Be Me, Love You.
GAHH!! My first Blog Post!!
I don't want to embarrass myself by acting like I invented blogging, but I'm REALLY excited to be here! Just saying.
I think that the hardest part of any new endeavour is starting it. I'm finding this to be especially true when it comes to writing, so this first blog post is a major victory for me.
To the people that know me, I'm actually very out-going, definitely extroverted and the "Life of the Party". Or at least that's my demeanour. The peculiar thing is I often feel like people may interpret that as being attention-seeking. But I'm really not. In fact, I don't like a lot of attention or being fussed over.
Weird, right?
So, I've been wrestling with this idea of sharing my 'insides' because I don't really want attention. But then I caught myself. Or rather, the Spirit caught me:
Emily, get over yourself.
Sharing me doesn't mean that it's about me.
It was realizing this that made me finally be ready to write this starting today. I feel like I've fully embraced the truth of one of my favourite scripture verses:
1 Corinthians 6:19 & 20 ESV
"...You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body."
Our society would tell us that we do belong to ourselves. Be about you. Live for you.
But true joy in life is actually found in this way of living: embracing our God-given attributes and purpose. Worshipping the Creator rather than the created all while seeking to serve the created ones that God places in our lives.
Put simply, life is supposed to be about loving God and loving each other.
So I'm ready to dive deep. To get into it. To point people to the TRUTH that sets us free and the LOVE that none can separate us from in Christ Jesus our Lord.
"just as I try to please everyone in everything I do, not seeking my own advantage, but that of many, that they may be saved." 1 Cor. 10:33 ESV
Going forward, I pray that God uses this platform to refresh and refocus your spirit. I endeavour to share myself authentically (Be Me) and point you (Love You) to the One who has gotten me through it all and teaches me anything worth knowing. Thanks for reading.
